Teresa Munzi earned a degree in Economics from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Rome, IT) and an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics (London, UK). Before coming to work at the Luxembourg Income Study (LIS) in 2002, she was employed by the European Commission (Brussels, BE) to study the impact of public pension spending on budgetary pressures (“Ageing and fiscal policies in the European Union”, The Welfare State in Europe, Edward Elgar Publishing, 2000). She also worked as an economist at the Chief Economist Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Investment (London, UK), as well as the UK Department for Education and Employment (London, UK). At LIS, in addition to her research function, Teresa is mostly involved with documenting and providing quality checks for the harmonised data. Her research interests include the comparative study of welfare systems and their impact on poverty, inequality, and family well-being; and gender differences in employment and earnings.
