LIS Key Figures

In an effort to provide our users and others with recent figures based on our data, we decided to publish LIS Key Figures. In the past, we have either referred these interested persons to publications based on the LIS data or advised them to become registered LIS users so that they could calculate these numbers themselves (which still remains the best option). Initially, we reported Gini Coefficients, Decile Ratios and overall Poverty Rates. As interest has grown in this area, we have decided to report additional indicators. Namely, you will now find Child Poverty Rates and Elderly Poverty Rates, based on three different poverty lines, in the tables that follow. In addition, we have implemented new standard methods in our calculations, which are also detailed in the subsequent pages. In sum, LIS Key Figures is an ongoing effort to provide individuals with the most recent statistics available using methods that we consider to be the standard for measuring income inequality.
These results may be used, but on the condition that the source of the information is properly mentioned in any (electronic or print) publication in which they are quoted.
