The Conference was organized by the Luxembourg Income Study in collaboration and with support of:

• The Commission of the European Communities, Directorate Social Policy and Social Action
• The Government of Luxembourg
• U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation
• National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP) in New York
• The MacArthur Network on the Family and the Economy

The main aim of the conference was to unite European and U.S. scholars interested in studying the phenomenon of child poverty and related issues. Selected papers have been published in a conference volume.
