SELF-TEACHING PACKAGES |
These guides consist of modules for each of the three software packages (SAS 9.1.3 -- Stata 9.2 -- SPSS 11.5), each of which contains an "exercises and guidelines file" as well as a "code file". Additionally, a generic "Answers file", for the three packages, is provided in order to give the answers as well as some further explanations on LIS specificities. Upon completing these modules, one will have a good background in the implementation of some of the more common LIS applications. |

SAMPLE FILES |
To help you test your programs before submitting them to our system, we have prepared artificial samples in SAS, SPSS and Stata. Please download these samples and use them to run your jobs on your PC in order to check for correct syntax. By doing so, you will save time and help us avoid system congestion. The "artificial samples" contain a sub-sample of the US00 dataset consisting of 1000 households and their respective household members as well as a sub-sample of IT00 dataset consisting of 240 households and their respective household members. The sub-sample contains all LIS variables but does not necessarily contain observations for each category within a variable. Pay attention to this aspect when moving from program testing on the artificial sample to program running on the real data. |
