Warnings: - CH data come from 3 different surveys - please check list of surveys - CH82: information on head and spouse only - CH82: no child component - Please note that the Swiss pension system consists of two main tiers (besides the voluntary 3rd pillar plans): the basic insurance for old-age and survivors (AHV/AVS) and invalidity (IH/AI) schemes providing compulsory coverage for all persons who are domiciled in Switzerland (and recoded in LIS variable V19S1) and the occupational benefit plans concerning old-age, survivors' and invalidity, providing compulsory coverage for all employees (recorded in LIS variable V32S1). As a result, the LIS summary income variables SOCI (total social insurance transfers) and SOCTRANS (total social transfers) underestimate the value of pension transfers if the compulsory occupational schemes are to be considered part of the Swiss Social Security. |
